This print depicts the shape of a Maple leaf through the distribution of Green Stripped Maple Worms (Dryocampa rubicunda) on its veins. The Maple Worms are distributed according to an L-system of the sixth order. The most challenging part of this print was to estimate the foreshortening of worms because of the combined effects of the perspective projection, the order of the segments in the L-system and their spatial orientation. Two views of the caterpillars were used in this design to create the illusion that the worms are crawling out of the leaf. Digital print is produced from an SVG file.
